Exam integrity, enforced at the endpoint.

Browser-based proctoring runs in userspace — where overlays, injected DLLs, and hidden screen-sharing tools slip past it every day. Attesto operates a layer deeper, at the operating system itself, so the integrity of an assessment doesn't depend on a tab staying focused.

The problem

Userspace proctoring is fundamentally broken.

Conventional remote proctoring lives inside the browser — the same sandbox a candidate fully controls. That's a losing position. Any halfway-clever student can defeat it without sophisticated tooling.

Transparent overlays

Invisible windows render answer text directly over an exam. The same class of overlay tooling that took Cluely to 70,000 users in 72 hours is trivially available — and a browser can't see it.

DLL & process injection

Injected code rewrites what proctoring software believes is happening on screen, feeding it a clean picture while the candidate works against a different reality.

Hidden screen sharing

Remote-assistance and capture tools stream an exam to a collaborator while staying out of the browser's field of view entirely.

How Attesto works

Integrity enforced where it actually happens.

Attesto is a Rust-based Windows service that runs at the operating-system level. It isn't watching a candidate through a webcam and guessing from where their eyes drift. It enforces the rules of the assessment on the machine itself — deterministically, and in real time.

Real-time process enforcement

Unauthorized applications are detected and terminated within milliseconds of an exam session starting — before they can be used, not flagged for review afterward.

Stealth & overlay detection

Attesto identifies transparent overlays, off-screen windows, and capture surfaces that browser proctoring is structurally blind to.

Tamper-proof logging

Every session writes an append-only, integrity-checked record to CSV — a defensible evidence trail for academic-integrity panels and assessment auditors.

Endpoint-level trust

Because enforcement lives below the browser, candidates can't bypass it from inside the browser. Trust is rooted in the OS, not in a focused tab.

Where we're headed

Roadmap

We're starting where integrity matters most and the environment is controlled, then expanding to meet institutions where they already are.

V1 · Now

University-managed lab environments

Hardened, OS-level enforcement for institution-controlled Windows lab machines — the highest-stakes, highest-control setting for in-person and supervised assessments.

  • Real-time process control
  • Overlay & stealth-tool detection
  • Tamper-proof session logs
V2 · Next

Bring-your-own-device & institutional scale

The bigger play: extend Attesto beyond the lab and integrate it into the stack schools already run, without forcing a rip-and-replace.

  • BYOD support for candidate hardware
  • Server-side, centralized session logging
  • Network filtering via Windows Filtering Platform
  • LMS integration for drop-in deployment
Who it's for

Licensing and SDKs for organizations that can't afford a compromised result.

Attesto is sold business-to-business. We license our integrity engine and provide SDKs so universities, certification bodies, assessment platforms, and enterprises running technical interviews can embed endpoint-level integrity into their own workflows.

  • Universities & higher-education assessment offices
  • Professional certification & licensing bodies
  • Online assessment & testing platforms
  • Enterprises running secure technical interviews
